Clubs may adopt the rules with any amendments they wish.
These rules are also used for the Vic Cup Series, NSW Challenge Cup 2013, NSW F1 Series 2014, and QLD Interclub Series - all with 21.5 blinky (details here).
They are also used by VORTEC (the Victorian On Road Track Executive Committee) for their "non-sanctioned" F1 class.
Process Used to Develop these Rules in 2012
- A draft set of chassis rules was published on RC Tech in July 2012.
- Feedback was incorporated into a revised chassis rule set.
- A survey of F1 racers was undertaken (results here) in August 2012.
- A draft set of motor rules was published on RC Tech.
- Feedback was incorporated into a revised motor rule set.
- This page was updated with Draft Rule Set version 1.0 (18 Sept 2012).
- A call was made (via RC Tech) for one or more volunteers from each club to present the draft rules to their clubs committee.
- Submission to clubs (PDF 1.3MB) released for adoption of national F1 rules (21 Oct 2012) and sent to all clubs running F1.
- 5 clubs adopted the rules and returned votes by the deadline of 10 Dec 2012. 4 clubs voted for 21.5 Blinky (TFTR VIC, FCRCCC QLD, OCR Raceway NT, LCRCCC QLD) and 1 voted for 17.5 Blinky (Castle Hill NSW). The motor for National Events run under these rules will therefore be 21.5 Blinky.
- Going forward any club / track may adopt these National rules by completing and returning this form (Word version / PDF version).
Rules Review Process Used in 2013
- In June 2013 we asked for feedback on the current National F1 Rules via RC Tech and our website.
- In July we summarised the feedback received and formulated draft proposals for discussion. At that time clubs were advised by email and encouraged to participate in the debate on RC Tech.
- This process resulted in a rules proposal. On 16 August the proposed rules and voting form was sent to each of the clubs that have adopted the National F1 Rules.
- Voting closed 5pm Tuesday 1 October.
- 8 clubs returned voting forms out of the 11 clubs that had adopted the National Rules at that time. A 72% response rate (really 80% given that OCR Raceway closed its doors earlier this year).
- Each of the 8 clubs voted on each of the 6 proposals giving 48 votes. 46 of the 48 were Yes votes (95%) showing that the proposed amendments were widely approved of and validating the robust process of consultation used in formulating the rules amendments.

New Zealand
Our Kiwi mates have a national ruleset and F1 run at their nationals. They run Silver Can motors and open tyres, weight limit 1100g and any brand of chassis but no independent rear suspension (sorry FGX). Check out the NZRCA site for detailed rules.
